Test-day tips
About 54 seconds a question
45 minutes for 50 questions. Most take less, which leaves time to check.
Only 5 wrong answers allowed
Careless reading costs more marks than not knowing. Look for "not", "first" and "best".
Count the ticks
A "choose two" question only scores if both answers are right.
Answer by the rules
Pick what the law and the site rules say, not what you have seen people do.
Questions people ask
How many questions are on the CSCS test?
50 questions in 45 minutes, for all three versions of the CITB HS&E test.
What is the pass mark?
45 out of 50, which is 90%. You can get 5 wrong and still pass.
How much does the test cost?
£23.50 per attempt from 1 April 2026. Cancelling or moving it less than 72 hours before loses the fee.
Are these the real test questions?
No. Nobody outside CITB has the real questions. Ours are original, written from HSE guidance and the law, and cover the same topics in the same question styles.
Which test do I need for my card?
Most labourers and trades sit the Operatives test. Supervisors and some trades sit a Specialist test. Managers and professionals sit the MAP test. The CSCS card finder confirms it for your job.
Who we are, and what we are not
We are an independent practice site, not affiliated with CITB, CSCS Ltd or Pearson VUE. We don't have the real test questions, and nobody honest can claim to. We write original questions from HSE guidance and the law, and check every fact before it goes live.
